Damn, that's quite a collection of injuries. I did fracture a bone on my right arm back when I was around 9, but it's hard to compete with your impressive history.
Hey, thanks! It wasn't beautiful, but it actually worked... the lines were less controlled and more wiggly, if that makes sense, but the sense of proportions and light sources and such were very good. I wish I had some of those tedious left-hand drawings!
I’ve only had one break that required treatment (ankle at 14 years old), but that one left me limping for months after, and my right calf was smaller than the left for years. I suspect that I cracked a few fingers and toes over the years, but they were never bad enough to seek treatment, so I can’t be sure.
my idiot mother was so concerned that i would hurt myself that she refused to allow me to play tball or soccer as a kid. we couldn’t afford gymnastics or dance so i did ZERO physical activities. as a consequence, i have zero gross or fine motor coordination.
my brother was naturally allowed to play everything and broke his leg twice and then needed repeated knee surgeries.
we have the redhead gene, so he woke up under anesthesia every time.
so i’ll never know if i have particularly strong bones or just a knack for keeping them intact. i AM extremely good at the “dodge” part of dodgeball so maybe there’s an explanation there.
I loved dodgeball so much! I remember one time where I nearly got tagged by a ball - like I could feel it whizz by me - and the teacher called me out. I bristled at this all-important and terrible injustice at the time!
Knee surgeries are rough. I went through recovery w/my partner fairly recently - she went through a total ACL replacement.
I am sure you got the attention by other youngsters looking you "abled differently" although for a short period. Childhood is a lab for experimentation which unfortunately bruise us. I still have some scars from barbed wire piercing my two fingers like it had a ruler . I wish to return to Childhood to experiment things
Ouch on the barbed wire, Edwin! That sounds like a painful memory.
I remember one time, I tried to pick up a skateboard ramp some kids had built. A nail went right into my finger as I tried to lift it, and I got stuck. A neighbor's mom who was a nurse helped me get it loose!
You look like a little maniac, love it. In middle school I was going hard to catch a ball, head up and my best friend was too and we knocked heads hard so we comically fell backwards onto the ground in opposite directions. I got a gusher bloody nose and it became lore because the blood stain stayed on the court long after the event so there was archeological evidence. Never broke a bone though and at this stage of the game I actively try not to hurt myself. Man I hate hospitals. /neverbrokeabone is a good scroll once in awhile with the grossest pictures and top bravado mocking BBBs or brittle bone bitches
Ha! On the other hand, my bones are pretty resilient from all that constant restructuring.. at least the ones I've broken. I suspect I've fractured at least a dozen bones by now, maybe more like 20 or 30. You don't notice stuff like toes, and even fingers can sneak by if you're just viewing it as an injury. I'm talking like hairline fractures, not dislocations or clean breaks or whatever.
But EG, I went to a doc a few years back to have my foot X-rayed for .... something. Whatever it was, it wasn't about a current bone injury. Doc kinda pulled me to the side and said, "by the way, did you know you had a broken toe?" I was like, #notsurprised. Pretty sure there are a few other #notsurprises to be discovered.

I was hell on wheels as a kid, and I'm certain I'm lucky to still be here. That being said: there have been many more.
That's pretty cool if you can draw with either hand. I can't even write with either hand. Nice post.

I know what you mean about not seeking treatment. Pretty sure I have at least a dozen bones I've broken over the years.
I had a similar ankle injury around 14, and that ankle is still weak today! It looks like I have 2 ankles.

I am bitterly imaging the nail piercing you ! Not a sweet thing. However these childhood scars were painful at that time but sweet to remember now
Yes! It's way different to look back.

You're frikkin Wolverine bro
You've never broken a single bone?
Never! Tore some stuff including ACL and maybe i had a fracture or two that healed up
Oh wow. In all my mess, I never did tear an ACL, MCL, LCL, or any shoulder ligaments. There's always time!
But Alley had a full ACL tear and had a piece of her hamstring reattached there a couple years ago. That was a helluva recovery.
Keep breaking bones my friend they heal better
