I loved this today! You even got painting in there. Which, being without rules, is more like play, but play with a cause because most art is also a radical act, so it feels like work. But the selling of art, the marketing, the juried shows, the part we do to feed ourselves feels more like a game, albeit one with very vague rules, if any. Sheesh, this is hard!
100%. I think you could argue that anything you sell is playing a game, at least to a degree. The rules change arbitrarily, though, and nobody necessarily knows all the rules at any one given time, so it’s tough!
I failed discrete math in college (actually got a D) and Game Theory was a big part of it. I got like 60% in the final - I mean, I knew over 1/2 the answers!
Pretty sure Gen X kids learned how to make games out of literally anything. I used to envision being wiped out by nukes and stuff like that quite a bit.

Also, Calvinball.
Game theory is SO cool if you can just understand it. Learning it? Ugh!
Calvinball brings me back. <3
Wonderful distillation as always brother
Thanks, Kyle! I wasn’t playing any games here.
😂👊🏻
Timely post for me. I’m about to make a serious medical decision and it all feels like a game to me. Is it? Probably.
