If the Beastie Boys is your thing, listen to this video real quick:
This really is just to say: thank you.
I am incredibly grateful for all of the readers who help me think every day. That’s you!
My day starts out the same way every day: with writing. After a short morning routine, I sit down and work on putting one idea or observation out there into the world.
Then, something magical happens. A bunch of thoughtful, intelligent folks will talk about my idea with me.
If you leave a comment or respond to an email you get from me, you’re helping me consider a second point of view I might not have thought about before. Or, even if we agree completely, your additional commentary might invite another person in to help us both think a bit.
That’s why I’m here, first and foremost: I want to understand the world better, and I want you to come along with me on this incredible journey.
I operate on a really basic principle: if it’s interesting to me, there’s a really good chance it’s interesting to you, too. Not everyone can read what I publish every day, and that’s okay! I hope to give you something interesting every time you peek inside.
I’m also very grateful for other writers I’ve met on the platform. We have several tight little communities that individuals have set up, so folks can figure out not only how to write and create, but also how to grow. I’m fortunate enough to be a part of several of these places, and I’ve even managed to collaborate with other authors on quite a few pieces.
I’m super grateful to you folks who have chosen to support my work here by upgrading to a paid subscription. This really motivates and encourages me to throw myself into this work, and it means a great deal to me. If you have the means and want to do that, you can do so here:
If you’re on a tight budget and can’t do this, I appreciate both the dialogue and support a great deal! Paid folks, you can access all of my older posts here. For everyone else, I didn’t feel comfortable with paywalling any of my daily writing, so I didn’t! Everyone gets every email, every day.
Also, free folks: you can still see those archives all the way to 9 months back. This balance felt right to me, so I went with it.
The photos above are of Molly (RIP 2020) and Dink-Dink, my two favorite co-authors. If you want to see more pics of Dink-Dink in particular (and occasionally, Molly or another amazing furbaby), you can also follow me on Substack’s Notes.
From the bottom of my heart: thank you! You rock.
Andrew ... congrats and thanks to your companion who looks like SHE's trying to tell you that you just split an infinitive. It's important to have a grammar dog.
Congratulations! Great milestone.
