Ed Two Oh Nine waits with an air of mechanical tension at the gleaming double doors leading into the boardroom at Omni Consumer Products (OCP). As the doors sweep open, the corporate executives waiting inside ogle as ED-209 (The Enforcement Droid Series 209) lumbers into the room, a brute force spectacle of advanced robotics and weapon systems, ready for its grand demonstration.
At the behest of executive Dick Jones, an unfortunate Mr. Kinney steps forward, a simple pistol in his hand. He hesitates, then points the firearm at ED-209, initiating a chilling sequence of events. ED-209 growls a menacing directive: "Please put down your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply." Startled, Kinney complies, dropping the pistol. Yet, the hulking droid advances undeterred, its digital brain misreading the situation. The seconds tick down. A dreadful countdown, punctuated by ED-209's harsh, synthesized voice: "You now have fifteen seconds to comply."
