"so, like, when Jefferson went before the people what he was saying was, ‘Hey, we left this place in England because it was bogus…"

He wasn't wrong....

Fundamentally, what Spicoli says during his summary is spot-on, if a bit superficial. Still, that’s an acceptable standard for a high school senior to pass nowadays. Back during the production of “Fast Times”, I think it was a lot more of an exception rather than the rule.

The important thing was he clearly knew the essence of what was going on, which is what history teachers and historians want you to do. He just delivered it in a vernacular style in which he was comfortable with (but Mr. Hand probably wasn't).

I only wish I had understood that objective when I took history in high school. I think I could have fallen in love a lot sooner.

Fast Times was based on Hollywood High where I was meant to go but my parents used my grandmas address to get me to Fairfax HS which was academically better. Unclear but I def missed out on some, like, experiences.

My sister told me about a massive marijuana plant that grew in the quad after some kids dropped some buds there and it was carefully cultivated and harvested for a year before admin noticed

All you need is some tasty waves and a cool buzz!

I remember that trend towards "valley speech." So vacuous. I couldn't stand it. And I never understood Frank Zappa or Grateful Dead, though by all accounts as a "freaky geek" I should've liked. I preferred Pink Floyd and Rush.

I still can’t appreciate anything by the Grateful Dead. Maybe it’s a stigma at this point, I dunno.

I frequently want to yell at any teen or young adult misusing that word, “The word ‘like’ is not a synonym for the word ‘said’!”

You were like, “stop using like like that!”
