Office Space, Mike Judge’s iconic critique of American corporate culture, gives us a clear glimpse into a typical late 90s office. You have the complete cast of characters: there’s the office cynic, the lifetime employee everyone sees but has no idea what they do, and the frat boy trying to spread rumors about sexual conquests.
The film lasers in on corporate jargon, especially TPS reports, cover sheets, and pieces of flair (at the fake TGI Friday’s across the street).
Oh, and getting the memo.
There are lots of ways the mighty memo is invoked. This isn’t a word you hear as often these days, at least outside of this very persistent joke.
Memos have managed to survive via memes.
By now, hundreds of millions of people have been exposed to Office Space memes, but it’s virtually certain that not all of them have seen the film. My guess is that at least tens of millions of them didn’t get the memes when they saw them.

"Memo" is the diminutive form of the word "memorandum": "A written message in business or diplomacy." Because certain people have difficulty saying or understanding polysyllabic words, they had to cut it in half...
I can watch that movie over and over.
