Did i ever tell you Slash (Saul Hudson) went to my HS? He was a year older than me and there’s a picture in my yearbook of him playing in the quad which you can also find by searching for him and Fairfax HS. We weren’t friends.
I next saw him 7 years later when GnR opened for the Rolling Stones (w/ Living Colour) at the LA Colliseum.
That’s wild. I went to high school (BIG high school) with a couple dudes who went on to play in the NFL, but I don’t think we had any HUGE graduates around my graduation year, 93. I’d swear up and down we had a sick number of brilliant kids. I wasn’t the dumbest kid in most rooms, but I was probably never the smartest either.
what happened to the brilliant ones? One of my friends became an astrophysicist and I got back in touch with her for a minute. but Slash? everyone wants to keep up with the Kardashians, the Einstein's not so much (ok bad example but you get my drift)
Absolutely. I've fallen far out of touch with everyone from my high school, and i kind of missed the on-ramping of social media because of that hard disconnect. I've poked around and tried to find some of the really smart ones, but it's hard to do since humans are still (fortunately) somewhat hard to track down. I know of at least a few successful career types (doctors and lawyers with their own practices or at least partner level), but that has been scant and disappointing so far.
