The military and agriculture meanings of "spray and pray" have periodically been fused together in chemical warfare (e.g. mustard gas in WW1, Agent Orange in Vietnam).

I did NOT think cat spray was pee when I was a kid, is all I’m gonna say.

This comes up in the context of digital photography. Since images are essentially free, many spray- and-pray for a good shot to come out of it. It's a pejorative.

Dang, that’s a great add-on. You and I both know that an eye for framing goes a long way toward reducing the need for dozens of pics of the same subject at the same time, but… the fact that they’re now essentially free doesn’t hurt one bit :)
