Well.... I had questions back in September, but let me just say that I think we have an awful lot in common. For one thing, society is stupid and makes dumb, arbitrary rules I find incredibly restrictive. Would you say you feel the same way? Let's start here!
Firstly I only just now joined Substack so didn't see your post in September.
Secondly, the 'arbitrary rules' I think you're referring to are based around morals (indecent exposure) and safety (of children, and to a certain extent women). However, I believe this is because they assume that nudism is sexual. It's not.
I didn't take it as confrontational. At least nowhere near as much as I've seen in other fora.
I am happy to share whatever you would like to know but I work better when I have a focus. A specific question or specific questions to answer.
I have been a closet nudist most of my life as I was raised to be modest. I never even changed in the men's dressing room.
As I grew older things changed. I had 'life model's on my bucket list and I have done that for the last 7 years now. I also moved somewhere where a nudist club is close by so I attended their open day and subsequently joined. I have been a member for three years now
I'll leave you with a question. What exactly is 'tech nudism'?
In the article, I was trying to liken my willingness to talk to AI on my headphones with nudism, but it was just the IDGAF concept of norm-shattering that made me draw such a direct comparison.
Do you feel as though you are constantly against the grain of society, or does that no longer feel like a part of your journey? For reference, I grew up in the deep south and turned punk between 17 and 18, ultimately choosing to back myself out of a society I felt I didn't belong to, and firmly into a subculture I did feel like I belonged with. I wonder if that was similar for you.
Constantly against the grain of society? Yes and no in the sense that society is changing but not me. The older I get the more I see society heading towards hell in a hand basket. And Joe and Jane Public don't care. Satan worship isn't even being hidden any more.
Sorry to have come across confrontational! I see how I stepped on that particular rake, though. I just mean that I had burning questions that are still somewhere in my mind, but they've been pushed to the back burner by other things. I'm still quite interested in what the lifestyle means to you, if you're interested in sharing.
So when others do it, it's "Being naked is brave and countercultural," but when I do it, it's "You're now forever banned from this public library, sir!"
