The problem is that you can't quite do the math equally without inflation adjusting, and even that misses a bit. I also love how JR tripled his worth after they said he had too much. A great book about all these folks is The Myth of the Robber Barons. https://amzn.to/4935TVx

+1 for the Silicon Valley reference and spreading the truth about which door style is correct. I mean, is it even a car if the doors open horizontally?

I'm visualizing you doing a double-hand karate chop, straight downward, while articulating the words "which style door is correct."

EXACTLY. And Im going to adjust my America doo rag just ever so slightly out of respect. My Oakley Blades will not be adjusted, however.

What I’m trying to reconcile is that Oakley just announced their own Meta glasses. But get this… THEY AREN’T BLADES?! Like why are they even bothering entering that tech space?!

It’s great. Very nsfw but it’s almost like watching a documentary.

Mike Judge has a way of doing this! See: Idiocracy. See also: Beavis and Butthead (pretty good peek into my existence during a couple years of the 90s for sure).

Most of those current billionaires owe their fortune to the fact that subsequent generations gutted the anti-trust laws that had enriched John D. Were they to remain as they were when they were when they originated, they would be restricted from becoming as affluent and influential as they are now- and some foreign-born ones would be driven out before they got started.

The surnames Astor, Carnegie, Rockefeller and Vanderbilt live on in America chiefly because of the philanthropy of the descendants of the people who made those fortunes. It is unlikely the much more selfish class will be remembered like that now, since they are less generous.

Notable 21st century exceptions include Warren Buffett and Mackenzie Bezos, but they're exceptions for a big reason.
