The more familiar meaning I have of "demon" is the servants of the Devil in Hell. Which I don't think either Laplace or Maxwell had in mind.

Oh wow! Yes indeed, I might really enjoy that. Thank you for connecting and commenting here, Jimena! I just now bought your audiobook.

Did I do all right in representing the select group of demons?

"Think about it for a moment: if you know everything that’s going to happen, what will happen if you try to deviate from the cosmic script?"

You should pose that question to Dr Strange who saw billions of future possibilities and managed to safely steer us towards the only positive one.

And now I've spoiled Avengers: End Game.

And now everyone knows everything that's going to happen.

It appears we've come full circle.

Yikes!

Here's another spoiler, just for balance: the visitor in ET is actually from another planet. It turns out that "ET" stands for "Extra Terrestrial"!

I love it that Unix uses the term daemon for processes always working away in the background.

For sure, I like throwback and fantastical naming. Tech new/tech old. Another Unix fave is Cron for I think the Greek god of time Chronos. Of course it manages scheduled tasks

I've been thinking a lot about our internal chronometers, how we all kinda tell time differently. Ever go down that rabbit hole?

Circadian (sp?) rhythm, how can I wake up at exactly the same time every morning, how does sunshine even work to set my internal clock, is SAD because no sun? super interesting stuff

Yes! People secluded themselves in caves without any natural light coming in, and lost all sense of this... but a longer sense of "day" emerged, and it seems like our own rhythm is slightly longer than 24 hours. Make of that what you will!
