In fifth grade, I had a camo bucket hat I wore every day and kids called me Hunter…even though I was the only vegetarian in our school.

Ha! Those kids had a pretty good sense of humor, or at least one of them did.

I remember the "American Ninja" movies being very popular in the bootleg VHS market in Ukraine. And I had the Shinobi game on my ZX Spectrum console - loved it. Also, I once made my brother walk with me around a chain of toy stores that have advertised a ninja costume. Sadly, they were all out and I never got to wear any ninja stuff. Life isn't always fair.

Remember the "tabi" boots? I really wanted those, but never got them! I did get a ninja star, though, and practiced with it.

Can't say I remember “tabi” boots. Perhaps they were censored in the USSR?

One of my fictional characters is regularly outfitted in full camo pants. (She is a former soldier, so I thought that was appropriate..).

I used to like sporting camouflage jackets when I was younger, but I outgrew it as I became older and increasingly despised military operations.

It's funny that the symbol used to be anti-military, but now the meaning has shifted so much. Culture has a very short memory!

I’m color blind, so camo doesn’t work on me. I even got AI to make a picture of a sad guy trying to hide in the forest in thrifted carhartt camo for this week’s article. It’s my superpower

Anything of any real consequence, or is it just more of a trivia/eye raiser?

it hit me early days so was a formative event personally but no, color blindness isn't typically a limiting health condition. I find it odd. I fundamentally experience life through what I see in a different way than 99% of the world and I will never know what that looks like. https://newsletter.wirepine.com/p/the-sense-of-joy?r=2fcl4a
