What's amazing is how they figured out how to enrich or detox food! The nixtamalization of corn comes to mind.

I'm well aware of this behavior as our cats have a habit of chewing any plants we bring in and then puking all over the carpet. Come to think of it, maybe they're just doing it to spite us.

All bets are off with cats. I just watched a cat compilation video with my folks - something that can immediately and consistently captivate their attention. Cats are dicks!

Animals take drugs recreationally, too. To me, that suggests they have a form of consciousness not so different from our own.

Sure seems like it. Animals like to feel good, and dogs really like to show us when they feel good by expressing it to their humans (and cats will purr, etc).
