I’ve always liked the terminology Evolutionary - signifying incremental improvements on an existing product or rule set versus Revolutionary - signifying fundamental changes to architecture or guiding principals
I can't believe I'm admitting this in public, but I once---and this is true---ended up walking across a road just after the traffic light turned from green to red.
Man, I'm getting an adrenaline rush just remembering this right now.
The creative arts are in and of themselves a form of rational irreverence. It is said that poets are "the unacknowledged legislators of the world" because their audience and influence outweighs many governments, and I would expand that to all of the arts. The Internet has certainly expanded the number of "unacknowledged legislators" out there in terms of trends, language, commerce etc.
(And yes: middle school (junior high in my case) is a pressure cooker environment. Which is probably why American animators portray and critique it with "rational irreverence" so often).
We certainly have a problem in the US that we never remove laws. And we really need to start removing them. Our congressional register is INSANE.

Yes, very useful terminology!
You know, I'm something of a bad boy myself.

I agree. This extends to all creative fields, and it's common across all creative endeavors.
