Spaceballs was a staple of my childhood. To this day, I remember being terrified of the alien popping out of the guy's stomach then laughing hysterically when it began singing.

Hello my baby, hello my honey!

Can't not think of this scene, and I can't not think of this song whenever I watch any kind of chest-burster scene.

I haven't seen the movie, but I love the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels.

I feel like we should both continue not seeing this movie.

You mean Americans when you say "our", right? I'm Canadian and my fiction work is strongly influenced by his films. He has international appeal.

Mars attacks was my favorite. I laugh just thinking about it. Maybe so funny to because I took my 10yr old son and his friend to see it in the theatre and their mouths were open from the start of cows running down the street on fire.

Great list. Mars Attacks brings back memories. I think it was one of the first movies I saw in English upon arriving to Denmark at the age of 14.

Did you know any Danish back then?

Nope. Came from Ukraine with school-level knowledge of English and having never heard any Danish until then. Fun times!

Neat! Have you ever written about your early journey? Not exactly "Why Try AI" material or whatever, but sounds interesting.

It might make it into my eventual memoirs when I'm 80. Until then, the few paragraphs on my abandoned humor blog's "About" page will have to do: https://nest-expressed.com/about/

MST3K is my favorite sci-fi comedy. Granted this was a ten year run series but the riffing on almost 200 old movies is perfect. You can watch each episode over and over and catch something new each time. So many are unaware of this series so I felt compelled to give them a shout out👍

Great callout! I think about MST3K all the time when I'm watching something bad on netflix.

Oh you know they do! But funny enough, they throw SO much out there that there are loads of gems hidden within that mess. They're still rocking some great shows.

My list would shift Spaceballs, Bill & Ted's and Mars so that Idiocracy, Wall-E & Men In Black could replace them, on no particular order. Just re-watched Bill & Ted and though it is still very funny and holds a deep sentimental place, it is uncomfortable to watch at times. Top offense, among quite a few, women's roles.

That soundtrack though - now that still rocks! Party on dude!

Good callout on Bill and Ted. That nostalgia is overwhelming, but you have to remind yourself of how messed up that time was!

Idiocracy would be #1 on this list, only I've written extensively about it so I wanted to give the masterpiece a break.

You literally could not have made a better sci-fi comedy list. These are the golden 5 films. I may have replaced back to the future with weird science personally, but I love both!
