Fogo de Chão was the corp upscale buffety for team and client dinners. Green card - MORE MEAT; Red card - NO MORE MEAT.

Yes! I was introduced to the idea of the churrascaria shortly before my first trip to Brazil. The quality of the meat in Brazil didn't blow me away (although it was good), but the quality of the stuff on the buffet did. It was like maybe $8 for ultra high quality meat and fresh bar stuff (exchange rate was stupid good for Americans back then).

Hehe. I used to love Shoney's breakfast buffet. We had one in my hometown, but it closed down a while back. It was a huge deal in the 1980s and 1990s, though. I bet that it was not the best thing to eat before a wrestling match, though. Way too much grease. Haha. Fun post, Andrew.

Buffets are great value for money. Not such a great value for your physical well-being. Speaking of, I'll likely end up at a buffet with my kids tomorrow evening due to family circumstances. Wish us all luck!

I will make a small sacrifice to the god of salmonella on your behalf.

When the Shoneys closed on Staples Mill, I lost my favorite pre-test cramming location. RIP

Oh wow. When did it close? I must have driven past that location a thousand times, but kind of never noticed it disappearing.

It's been gone for a bit now. But I haven't lived in the area in a minute as well.

Next time I drive up that way, I will pour a little bit of fake maple syrup out of my car in honor of the Shoney's that once was!
