Dark chocolate is practically medicine for me. I have some heart issues, but when I eat some dark chocolate, my heart is able to re regulate itself. I'm not sure the exact science behind it—I think it's about magnesium—but it's a double win because it's also good for my metaphorical heart.

I wonder though, is there still truth to milk chocolate causing acne? I haven't done any research on it.

No, although there's plenty of speculation that sugar causes acne, and of course milk chocolate is almost always loaded with sugar.

By the way, that is awesome medicine!

I saw a post on Threads recently where a doctor was going through a bunch of these. Things like how body hair doesn't really grow back coarser after being shaved. I tried to find it again just now but gave up cuz I prefer to righteously espouse random facts with extreme piety.

If you wait long enough, I'm sure I'll write about them eventually. I plan to cover the universe in its totality, one day at a time.

Chocolate definitely does NOT cause acne. Maybe the uber sweet chemically overloaded candy bars that call themselves "chocolate" do, but real chocolate? Never! What real chocolate does do is make your head spin from how good it is...

Some more that I have heard are Sea or Himalayan salt is better than Table Salt, 8 glass of water every day, and fresh produce is better than frozen.

The salt myth can be explained: The USDA reports regular table salt having 581 milligrams of sodium per 1/4 teaspoon and Himalayan pink salt having 388 milligrams of sodium per 1/4 teaspoon. Yes, that's different, but only because pink salt is coarser. The amount of sodium in table salt and Himalayan pink is the same by weight. So, choose the salt that you like the best and eat it in moderation.

I think we hear about a new superfood every few years even when we know no single food item can be superfood. I think eating most things in moderation is fine.

Indeed, although we have to be careful with this one since cold weather can drive us to congregate inside.

lol my first visual was all the organs inside my body congealing together. I don't like that word congregate. ever have words you inexplicably just don't like?

Certainly! Language is powerful like that, and I love it. Maybe we should make a list of "icky" words!

Anyone who's ever actually used a microwave to heat up a bigger plate of food will learn that it absolutely doesn't cook from the inside out. The most relatable meme I've seen on the topic is a picture of a meal inside a microwave with the text "Ding ding! Your hot plate of cold food is ready!"

I always enjoyed sites and articles that debunked common misconceptions. Back in the early 2010s, Cracked.com was the kind of this "Counterintuitive facts with lots of humor" articles. I read it religiously for years. At the time, they had a "Writers Workshop" where anyone could submit ideas and then, if accepted, write up the article. I remember being so thrillled when I got published: https://www.cracked.com/article_20456_5-emergency-cures-everyone-knows-that-actually-hurt-you.html

(Although the end resullt was very heavily edited and the only entry that retains most of my original language is probably #2 about ice and burns.)

Do you have the original? If so, might it make its way to Nest Expressed?

Side note: if you ever do an onlyfans page, you can call it "Next Exposed." I see that you're playing the long game here with your branding.

“Nest Sexpressed”? “Nest Undressed?”

There are options!

I'm pretty sure I have my original submission but I'm not sure about the legality of publishing it since I had my submission accepted and published on Cracked (and got paid for it).

But I did publish the five cut entries, here: https://nest-expressed.com/2013/05/30/popular-quick-fix-cures-that-do-more-harm-than-good/
