Yeah, eventually I learned that liquid is a state of matter. My original thought process was based on the fact that water was the only liquid I knew existed. When I first hypothesised that I started coming up with examples to prove it (like oh juice is a liquid and it must have water, and milk is probably a liquid because cows drink water). Then school taught me that liquid is a state of matters, so that’s that.
We still have very intelligent and knowledgeable people, and experts of course, who negate space travel, that we'll never leave the earth, that we'll never have freedom again, we'll never have anything beyind conventional rocketry to propel us into space...
The list is endless with these single-tracked pragmatists. Maybe this explains part of the plight of western civilization.
When I was a kid I'd go up to the observatory and buy prints of far away galaxies and nebulas to hang in my walls in vibrant purples and reds. Images from the JWST make them look like old b&w prints from the 1900s https://webbtelescope.org/news/first-images/gallery
One day, it might be possible to look things up and then know them for sure, but that day will probably never come. We will never know whether knowing is better than not knowing!
I used to think all liquids contained water
That's a pretty sensible thing to think. Do you remember how you discovered that this wasn't the case?

Nanoprobes!
They're a thing!

It's truly magical! Hubble certainly unlocked a lot of curious minds during the 90s, albeit with images less breathtaking than JWST's.
Mayhap you will like this saying: "I know that I don't know anything."
Yes! Another way it has been said, which I absolutely adore: "All I know is that I don't know nothin'."
True :) I feel that all sages of legend that our social media age has produced should learn this saying.
I'm so very glad I don't know who any of these people are. Being disconnected has its privileges.
This might be a hot take, but I believe knowing stuff is better than not knowing stuff. But I guess we'll never know if it's a hot take or not.

Lies... all lies I tells ya! Well, maybe some truth here and there... Okay, a LOT of truth. So there. I said it.
It needed to be said!
