"Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon (published in 1865) seems like a great candidate for a story about rockets, but Verne’s explorers got there by being shot out of an enormous cannon."
The explorers were Americans, affiliated with the Baltimore Gun Club and led by one Impey Barbicane. Verne knew even then what country would take it to space first.
I was for a short period of time, but I think I quit when I didn't find a peer group to encourage all the tedious (in my view) collecting and building required to make a very short event happen. Still, with a group? Totally worth it.
that one has stood the test of time. my new generation is super into D&D. I looked back at my yearbooks to see if i was BSing and I was (it was jr high) but the D&D clubs were strong. Didn't mingle with those nerds.
I played D&D last Sunday! This group has gotten to know one another a bit, and we're all between like 45 and 60, I think, so folks are a bit more patient with one another (thank goodness; I can be a lot when playing). It's getting really fun!

That is a very good observation!
Verne did another book with them, where they invert the Earth’s axis…
It's not prompt engineering, I'll tell you that much.
Prompt engineering? More like slow engineering, amirite?
More like slop engineering!
I prefer “it’s not brain surgery” for personal reasons. Perhaps I should write a companion article?
I mean, I'd read it!
We can then collaborate on "It's Not Rocket Surgery", all about BCIs.
I was obsessed with model rockets as a kid

You're talking to the PRESIDENT of my high school rocketry club rn. Chicks dug us
Ooooh, Mr Big time over here. What if I told you I was a dungeon MASTER for a few years?

It seems curiosity dressed up as there or calculation is still a good actor!
